On January 2, 2026, the Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) will hold a routine immunization clinic at its main office, 141 Lake St., from 8:40 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. by appointment only. The clinic offers families a chance to catch up on vaccines required for school entry under the Immunization of School Pupils Act. Residents can book a time by calling the RCDHU Immunization Line at 613-732-9436 (toll-free 1-833-773-0004). For other RCDHU enquiries, the main toll-free number is 1-800-267-1097.

The clinic will provide publicly funded vaccines for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, meningococcal disease and pertussis (whooping cough). Varicella (chickenpox) vaccination is also included where applicable — note that Ontario’s school immunization requirement for varicella applies to students born in 2010 or later. Parents can review the Ontario Routine Immunization Schedule to confirm which shots their child needs before the school semester resumes.

Appointments are by phone only. To book a slot, call the RCDHU Immunization Line at 613-732-9436 or toll-free at 1-833-773-0004. Walk-ins will not be accepted, so early booking is encouraged to secure a convenient time. If you need alternate booking options or assistance, contact immunization@rcdhu.com or the RCDHU main line.

Scheduling the clinic for the first working day after the holidays helps families who missed year-end appointments or need post-pandemic catch-up doses. “I strongly recommend that everyone check their immunization status and ensure they are up to date, which is the most effective thing we can do to prevent the spread of infection in our region,” said Dr. Jason Morgenstern, Medical Officer of Health for RCDHU (as quoted in local media coverage).
