On Monday, January 26, 2026, students in Perth, Ontario, saw their exam plans change after winter weather forced bus cancellations across the region. The Perth & District Collegiate Institute announced that all high school exams will be pushed back by one day to ensure students who rely on buses can still participate in their final tests.
The Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario cancelled all morning and afternoon bus trips early Monday morning for the Upper Canada District School Board. A winter storm warning from Environment Canada called for up to 20 centimetres of snow and high winds, making rural roads in Lanark County dangerous for travel.
Principal Valerie Horsfall told families that the school is using a rolling plan, meaning Monday’s exams move to Tuesday and Tuesday’s exams move to Wednesday. This decision was made because about 65 per cent of the students at the school live in rural areas and depend on the bus to get to class.
The school building remains open for staff and students who are able to walk to the campus safely. However, teachers will not start new lessons or give any formal tests until the buses are running again and the regular exam week resumes.
