Residents in Perth, Ontario, are facing a major winter storm. Lanark County and local authorities are warning of significant snowfall; Lanark County and some local outlets have forecast totals of 15 to 30 centimetres through Monday morning. Environment Canada’s Perth (Lanark) forecast page showed a Yellow Warning with snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm as of 4:32 AM ET on Jan. 26, 2026. The heavy snowfall began Sunday afternoon (Jan. 25, 2026) and is expected to make travel dangerous, especially during the Monday morning commute on Jan. 26, 2026.
The storm is expected to produce rapid snowfall, with peak rates of about 2–4 centimetres per hour. This rapid accumulation will likely cause reduced visibility and make it difficult for snowplows to keep up on side roads and sidewalks throughout the county.
Lanark County has alerted residents to stay off the roads if possible and to allow for plenty of extra travel time if they must go out. County officials have warned that under their significant‑weather procedures for heavy storms, roads may not reach their usual cleared standards until the snow ends.
Drivers are encouraged to check Ontario 511 for the latest road conditions and closures before starting their trips. Lanark County Emergency Management recommends having a winter kit ready in your vehicle and home, including backup phone chargers and extra batteries.
In the Town of Perth, crews follow a priority winter‑maintenance system and aim to have priority streets cleared to bare pavement within 12 hours after a storm ends, subject to storm severity and municipal policy. Residents are asked to call 9‑1‑1 only for life‑threatening emergencies and to use Ontario 511 or municipal channels for general weather and road updates.
