The popular Grant Narrows boat launch and dike trail have reopened to the public after City of Pitt Meadows crews finished two weeks of dike maintenance work along Rannie Road on August 21, 2026.
The closure, which ran from August 10 to 21, was needed so crews could use large machinery to complete critical repairs on the dike that runs from the Pitt River Dike scenic point to the Pitt-Addington Marsh boat launch. The work was done on weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with no public access during that time.
Grant Narrows is the main doorway to Pitt Lake and the Pitt-Addington Marsh Wildlife Management Area, a 2,972-hectare protected wetland that is home to more than 200 bird species. The boat launch itself is under provincial jurisdiction, managed by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, while the Katzie First Nation manages the surrounding recreation area through a long-term lease agreement.
With the work now complete, paddlers, boaters, and wildlife viewers can again access the area for activities like canoeing to Widgeon Creek, birdwatching, and exploring Pitt Lake. The park gate is open daily from dawn until dusk and is locked overnight. Daily parking costs $10, or $25 overnight.
