A 13-year-old girl was taken to hospital on January 12, 2026, after she was hit by a pickup truck while walking in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. The incident happened at about 8:00 a.m. in the 10200-block of 242B Street. According to the Ridge Meadows RCMP, the girl was crossing northbound at a marked crosswalk at 242B Street when she was struck.

The pickup truck was travelling eastbound on 102 Avenue when the collision occurred. Police say the male driver remained at the scene. The RCMP said the girl was taken to hospital by emergency health services with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are examining a number of factors, including weather and road conditions and limited visibility during the darker morning hours. The collision has raised community concern, coming a week after a fatal pedestrian collision on Jan. 5. Ridge Meadows RCMP and Inspector Martin Guay have urged drivers and pedestrians to take extra precautions during wet weather and during darker periods of the day.

Ridge Meadows RCMP is asking anyone who saw the crash or who has dashcam or surveillance footage from that morning to come forward. Police have asked witnesses to contact Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251 and quote file number 2026-750.
