Plympton-Wyoming, Ontario, town leaders met on January 14, 2026, to finalize a new trash collection deal and plan for several local drainage improvements. The meeting also addressed concerns from local homeowners regarding property tax rates and how land values are assessed for tax purposes.

According to the official Jan 14, 2026 council highlights, the town approved a $1 million short-term loan to help manage its cash flow. This is a common move that allows the municipality to pay for daily operations and services before property tax payments are collected from residents later in the year.

A new service contract was awarded to Marcotte Disposal Inc. to manage the town’s garbage collection and disposal services. During the session, a group of residents from Blue Coast Estates spoke to council to challenge the 2025 residential tax rates and how property valuations are currently structured.

Council also moved forward with three drainage projects by appointing engineering firms to study the Keating, Jardine, and Gallimere Beach areas. Residents who may be affected by these infrastructure projects will eventually be invited to public meetings to discuss the plans and any costs involved before work starts.

The local police board also provided a review of services from the past year to keep the community updated on safety. Residents can find more details about these decisions and future meeting dates on the Town of Plympton-Wyoming news portal and the Plympton-Wyoming council calendar.
