As of February 9, 2026, the County of Lambton is asking residents in Plympton‑Wyoming, Ontario, to call 911 only for life‑threatening emergencies. A major winter storm has created dangerous driving conditions, making it difficult for ambulances and emergency crews to reach people as quickly as they normally do.

Officials say that blowing snow and whiteout conditions have caused significant delays for paramedics in the local area. Residents with medical issues that are not immediate emergencies are being asked to contact Health Connect Ontario by calling 811 for guidance.

According to Lambton Public Health, several warming centres have been opened for those who need a safe place to stay during the cold. Local locations include the Plympton‑Wyoming Health & Wellness Centre at 596 Broadway Street and the Camlachie Community Centre; other centres in the county (including Warwick Community Centre in Watford and Victoria Hall / Oil Heritage District Community Centre in Petrolia) were also listed as active.

Deputy Warden Jeff Agar is urging all residents to stay off the roads and follow safety advisories while crews work to clear the snow. The county declared a Significant Weather Event on February 7 after authorities reported over 150 calls for stranded motorists during the storm.

The Lambton OPP also advised anyone who is stuck in their car to make sure their exhaust pipe is not blocked by snow or ice. Keeping the pipe clear helps prevent carbon monoxide from building up inside the vehicle while waiting for help to arrive.
