Starting February 11, 2026, the Town of Ponoka, Alberta, is offering new Pilates and Total Body Cardio classes at the Ponoka Aquaplex (5315 46 Avenue) to give residents more ways to stay active indoors. These sessions are designed to provide low-cost exercise options accessible without a private gym membership and are held in the facility’s multi-purpose room.
The programs follow input from the 2024 Community Program Survey and are part of the Town’s Community Programming Roadmap on Let’s Talk Ponoka. Registration for the winter/spring block opened in early January 2026.
Residents can choose between Pilates for core strength and flexibility, or Total Body Cardio for higher-energy aerobic fitness. Classes are offered as single-use drop-in sessions, via a 20-visit punch pass, or through the Town Recreation Pass (valid at the Aquaplex and Ponoka Arena Complex); some offerings may also be available through registered program blocks.
Town officials say the additions aim to increase year-round participation at the Aquaplex — the Recreation Department projects roughly an 8% increase in facility “reach” this quarter — and the shift is part of an ongoing effort by the Ponoka Town Council and Recreation Department to broaden the Aquaplex from a primarily aquatic facility into a community wellness hub.
