In Ponoka, Alberta, the Ponoka Stampede Association has opened applications for Miss Ponoka Stampede 2026, inviting young women aged 18 to 24 from the town and surrounding district to apply by April 1, 2026, ahead of a selection day on April 8, 2026. This year’s search coincides with the 90th anniversary of one of Canada’s largest professional rodeos, running June 25 to July 1, 2026.
Applicants must demonstrate horsemanship, public speaking skills, knowledge of rodeo and an outgoing personality when they submit their details through the official Ponoka Stampede site. Eligible candidates will be invited to a one-day competition at the Calnash Ag Event Centre, where they’ll complete riding challenges, interviews and presentations.
The winner will serve as the primary ambassador for the “Wildest in the West,” making appearances at local festivals, media events and leading the Downtown Parade on June 26, 2026, which draws more than 10,000 spectators. Past queens—including current titleholder Kyla Lightfoot—often go on to compete for Miss Rodeo Canada, making this role a springboard for careers in the western industry.
“Are you the NEXT Miss Ponoka Stampede? 2026 applications are NOW ONLINE!” reads the official announcement on the Ponoka Stampede website. The deadline is 4 p.m. on April 1, 2026, with selection day at 9 a.m. on April 8, 2026. Full eligibility requirements and submission instructions are available on the eligibility page.
