PacificCARE Family Enrichment Society (via its Child Care Resource & Referral program) is hosting a free play session for children and their families on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in Port Alberni, British Columbia. The event is designed to give local parents a no-cost way to help their children learn through play while connecting with other families in the community.

The session will take place at The Family Hub, located at EJ Dunn Elementary School (3500 Argyle Street, Port Alberni). It will feature interactive activities like sensory play and stations with simple building materials, which allow young children to explore and use their imaginations in a relaxed environment.

Beyond the play activities, PacificCARE staff will be on hand to help parents and caregivers navigate the childcare system. This includes answering questions about finding local childcare providers and helping families apply for government childcare supports such as the Affordable Child Care Benefit.

This outreach is a partnership between PacificCARE and the Pacific Rim Children and Families collective. These organizations work together to make family services easier to access by putting resources in a single location and providing a welcoming space for everyone raising young children in the Alberni Valley.
