A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle early in the morning on February 15, 2026, at the intersection of Redford Street and 10th Avenue in Port Alberni, British Columbia.

The Port Alberni Fire Department arrived at the scene around 3:52 AM to provide medical help. Emergency crews closed the intersection to secure the area, and drivers were told to use other streets to avoid traffic delays.

The Port Alberni RCMP is now investigating the cause of the crash. Officers are asking anyone who saw the incident or who has video from their car to contact them with information.

This intersection is part of a road that the City of Port Alberni has identified as having a history of safety issues. Several people have died in accidents along Redford Street in recent years, leading to calls for better crosswalks and safety measures.

A memorial for a cyclist killed in 2017 sits just two blocks away at 10th Avenue. This latest incident adds to the ongoing concerns residents have about road safety on this busy stretch of road.
