Residents in Port Colborne should prepare for a temporary sidewalk closure along King Street beginning April 13, 2026, to allow for structural repairs to the Williams House at the Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum.
The closure affects the sidewalk on the west side of King Street between Elgin Street and Princess Street. Along with the sidewalk, parking stalls adjacent to the museum will be unavailable during the work. The city expects the closure to last until April 24, 2026, though this date is subject to change.
The Williams House, a Georgian-Revival style building constructed in 1861, serves as the museum’s main exhibit gallery. It was gifted to the city in 1950 by Arabella Williams, the daughter of the home’s original owners, John and Maria Judith Williams. The maintenance is part of the city’s broader infrastructure investment, which includes $732,000 allocated in the 2026 budget for sidewalk upgrades across Port Colborne.
