The School District 52 (Prince Rupert) Board of Trustees is holding a Special Open Board Meeting on March 25, 2026, in British Columbia to gather final community input on the 2026-27 budget. This meeting will take place at 6:30 PM at the Booth Meeting Room.

Families have the opportunity to voice concerns about school programs and how money is spent before the district locks in its plan for the upcoming year. Residents can also provide feedback through an Annual Budget Survey that remains open until March 31, 2026.

The district is preparing for a tighter budget as the provincial government is providing $7.242 billion for school operations, which is $25 million less than last year. At the same time, school boards across the province are dealing with higher costs for inflation and student support services.

While the board manages daily costs, work is progressing on the $126.8 million Prince Rupert Middle School Seismic Replacement Project. The new building is designed to be more environmentally friendly and is expected to be ready for students later in 2026.

The district is also running an accessibility survey to find ways to make schools more inclusive for everyone. This feedback will help officials decide where improvements are needed for students and community members with different needs.
