Families from Quispamsis and Rothesay, New Brunswick, were invited to the Rothesay Common on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, for a special themed community skate. The “Time Travel Skate” (listed by the Town of Rothesay as “Time Travel Skate – Winterfest Skate Series”) was part of this year’s Fundy Winterfest, a regional festival that encourages residents to stay active and connected during the winter months. The session ran from 6:00–8:00 PM.

The event invited people to dress up in historical outfits or futuristic costumes while they enjoyed the ice. This free session featured music from various decades to match the time travel theme, creating a fun atmosphere for all ages. The event was organized by the Town of Rothesay (the Recreation Department in partnership with the Fundy Winterfest regional committee) to offer a free way for neighbours to get outside and exercise together.

Skating took place on the refrigerated outdoor ice at the Rothesay Common (24 Gondola Point Road). Because the ice surface is maintained by a refrigeration system, the event can continue even if the weather is slightly warmer than usual. The rink serves as a central gathering spot for the Kennebecasis Valley, acting as a shared space for residents of both Rothesay and Quispamsis.

This year’s Fundy Winterfest runs from January 17 to March 8, 2026, and includes six weeks of activities across several local communities. By offering themed nights and free access to local facilities, organizers hope to help families embrace the cold weather and build a stronger sense of community.
