The New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization started its 2026 River Watch program on March 11, 2026, to help protect residents in Quispamsis, New Brunswick. This annual effort monitors water levels and ice conditions to give the community early warnings about potential spring flooding.

The program works with the Department of Environment and Local Government to track ice movement and flood risks along major waterways. People living near the Saint John River and Kennebecasis River are encouraged to keep a close watch on water levels in the coming weeks.

Families in low-lying areas can access real-time data through the GeoNB Map Viewer to stay informed about changes in their neighborhood. Local officials are advising residents to prepare their homes now for the seasonal risks caused by melting snow and ice jams.

Quispamsis municipal officials are responsible for local emergency management and will communicate directly with residents if flood risks increase. The monitoring program is a key part of the province’s strategy to ensure that households have enough time to act safely if water levels rise.
