The Alberta‘s Strongest Man & Woman competition is set to return to Red Deer on Saturday, April 11, 2026, bringing a day of professional strength sports to the community. Hosted at Fire & Flood Emergency Services in Red Deer County, the event will feature both men’s and women’s divisions.
Organized by Royal Iron Strength owner Nick Ris and professional strongman Larson Hehr, the outdoor event includes six demanding challenges for athletes. Competitors will face a truck deadlift, a yoke carry paired with an arm-over-arm pull, a press medley, a loading medley, a frame carry, and a Hercules hold, which tests grip strength against massive, weighted pillars.
Spectators are welcome to attend the event, which starts at 11:00 a.m., with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. Organizers have installed new bleachers capable of seating approximately 250 people to improve the viewing experience for fans. Because the competition is held outdoors, attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather.
Entry to the event is by donation, with a suggested minimum of $10. Proceeds from the day will support The Lending Cupboard, a local registered charity that has provided medical equipment to residents of Central Alberta at no cost since 2006.
Event organizers are currently recruiting volunteers to help manage the day’s activities. Prospective volunteers should be prepared for a physically active role, as organizers note that supporting a strongman show can be demanding work.
