The Red Deer Public Library is hosting a phone-based trivia challenge throughout March 2026 to celebrate women’s contributions to history in Red Deer, Alberta. Residents can participate by calling the library’s “Lit Line” at 403-342-9100 to answer questions and learn about historical figures.
The short educational quiz is designed to be a free and easy way for residents to learn, especially seniors or those who do not have a computer or home internet. This service allows callers to listen to facts and answer questions from any location using a standard landline or mobile phone.
The library first launched the phone line in 2020 to stay connected with the community during the pandemic when physical buildings were closed. It has since become a regular way for the library to share different topics and encourage curiosity without requiring a smartphone or a trip to a library branch.
According to Shelley Ross, the CEO of the library, the organization focuses on making information easy to find for all residents. While Canada officially recognizes Women’s History Month in October, this March event is held to align with International Women’s Day.
