Families in Red Deer, Alberta, have several local options for activities this Family Day on February 16, 2026. These events are designed to offer low-cost or free ways for parents and children to enjoy the holiday together close to home.

Residents can visit Waskasoo Park for the annual Snow Fest celebration, which takes place from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at three locations within the park system. Another local option is the Family Picnic Day held at the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM, providing a variety of indoor and outdoor programs for all ages.

While some regional event lists included the Winter Warm Up at Mary Reimer Park for the local area, that specific celebration is held in Hinton rather than Red Deer. This event is part of the 39th annual Winter Magic Festival and takes place from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Mary Reimer Park.

According to the Town of Hinton, the Winter Warm Up includes free outdoor games, hot dogs, hot chocolate, and marshmallows for roasting. The park itself is a historical site named after the Reimer family, who were the former managers of Milner’s Ranch, which was once located on the property.

Both the Red Deer and Hinton activities focus on making the winter holiday accessible for all residents. These events encourage community members to get outdoors and participate in traditional winter fun with their neighbors.
