The Red Deer Polytechnic Board of Governors has released records from its recent meetings in Red Deer, Alberta, highlighting new degree programs and progress on campus construction. These documents, published in February 2026, provide the community with details from a special meeting held on January 14 and a public session from December 3, 2025.
The school is currently working through a $10-million budget shortage that resulted in the suspension of five programs, including the Administrative Professional and Pre-Health Sciences certificates. To support the institution’s long-term growth, the school is continuing to expand its autonomous degree offerings, building on its ability to grant four-year degrees in education and business administration, a status first approved by the provincial government in 2022.
Meanwhile, the $12.9-million expansion of the Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing – Technology Access Centre (CIM-TAC) remains on schedule to be finished by Fall 2026. This project is designed to give students and local partners more room for technical research and hands-on learning.
Employees at the polytechnic also recently concluded a vote on a new work contract following a February 12, 2026, update from the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees. This vote is a key step as the institution manages its budget while expanding its role in the community.
