The U15 AAA Red Deer Rebels have been named the Minor Hockey Team of the Year in Alberta for the 2025-2026 season. The announcement was made on March 31, 2026, by CBC broadcaster Ron MacLean, who recognized the team for their outstanding achievements both on and off the ice.
The team, led by head coach Justin Jarmolicz, completed a historic season that included an undefeated 34-0 regular season and a 41-game winning streak. While the Rebels ultimately fell in the provincial championship final in overtime, team captain Madden Daneault set a new single-season scoring record for the league with 149 points, including 65 goals and 84 assists.
As part of the recognition, the team will receive a commemorative trophy featuring each player’s name and an opportunity to enjoy a team lunch with two players from the National Hockey League. Additionally, a donation will be made in the team’s name to the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre, which provides critical support services for children and families in the region.
The award is presented through the Red Deer Minor Hockey Commission and Hockey Alberta, with support from the 2 Mutts Minor Hockey Foundation. Looking ahead, nine members of the Rebels squad have been selected to compete in the upcoming 2026 Alberta Cup, which will take place in Red Deer from April 23 to April 26, 2026.
