The Red Deer Native Friendship Society has officially made youth support a top priority by adding youth programming as one of its four main areas of work in Red Deer, Alberta, this March 2026.
This new focus is designed to help local young people with their emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical health. The organization uses traditional medicine wheel teachings to provide wellness support and cultural guidance to youth in the community.
The society has been providing services to Indigenous individuals in the region since 1984. By making these programs a formal part of their mission, the group ensures that support for young people is a permanent part of their community development work.
As a non-profit organization, the society also manages cultural housing and other family services. This update helps separate youth-specific needs from general family support to better serve the specific challenges faced by young residents.
