Organizers in Red Deer, Alberta, are holding final signing events to collect enough signatures to remove Jason Stephan as their representative in the provincial government. Lead organizer Nicole Green must gather 14,508 signatures by February 23, 2026, to move the recall process forward.
The petition, launched through Elections Alberta, claims that Stephan has not responded to local concerns and is focusing on a separatist agenda. Resident Nicole Green, who is working with the group Recall Red Deer, says the local representative has not prioritized the interests of the community.
Jason Stephan, who serves as the provincial representative for Red Deer South, predicts the effort will fail. He pointed to his work in securing a 1.8 billion dollar investment for the expansion of the local hospital as a major success for the city.
To be successful, the petition needs signatures from 60 per cent of the people who voted in the last provincial election. With only eight days left before the deadline, organizers are hosting events like the one held on February 14, 2026, to reach the required number of voters.
