Redcliff residents looking for a calm start to their Wednesday can drop by Lions Park for free coffee, treats, and mindful activities starting this week. The Mindful Mornings series, run by Redcliff Family and Community Support Services and Recovery Alberta, returns for three summer sessions on July 22, July 29, and August 5, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

No registration is needed. Anyone can stop by the park for coffee, snacks, and gentle activities designed to promote mental wellness. One highlight is story time featuring Emotions Aquarium creatures, which help children and families talk about feelings in a friendly way.

While the sessions are open to all ages, children under 12 must come with a parent or guardian. Youth 12 and older can attend on their own. The program is fully free and built around the idea that mental health support should be easy to access and woven into everyday community life.

The series builds on a similar offering last summer and is part of a broader push by Recovery Alberta to bring mental health services out of clinics and into local gathering spaces. Recovery Alberta started operating on September 1, 2024, taking over publicly-funded mental health, addiction, and correctional health services from Alberta Health Services.

Lions Park, a 3.77-acre green space beside the town’s splash park, provides a relaxed setting for the gatherings. Organizers say the drop-in format is meant to be welcoming, with no long-term commitment required.
