Redcliff is in for a wet start to the week before skies clear and temperatures climb well above normal, according to Environment Canada. Rain began this morning, with a risk of thunderstorms lingering through Monday afternoon, but residents can expect a sharp turnaround by Tuesday.
Environment Canada’s forecast calls for periods of rain ending this afternoon, then mainly cloudy with a 60 percent chance of showers. A thunderstorm risk remains as a northwest wind at 30 km/h gusts to 50 km/h, keeping the high to just 17°C. As of midday, the Medicine Hat Airport observation site reported a light rainshower, a temperature of 13.2°C, and winds from the west at 27 km/h gusting to 36 km/h.
By Tuesday, a mix of sun and cloud will push the high to 22°C, with northwest winds at 20 km/h. Clearer conditions arrive Wednesday with sunny skies and a high of 25°C. Thursday will be even warmer at 27°C, sitting 2 degrees above the seasonal normal of 25°C for late June.
Friday is shaping up as the warmest day of the week, with a forecast high of 29°C and a mix of sun and cloud with increasing cloudiness. However, a 60 percent chance of showers returns Friday night as a low of 13°C settles in. The weekend turns unsettled again, with a 30 percent chance of showers Saturday and a high of 23°C. Periods of rain are expected Saturday night through Sunday, when the high will drop to 18°C.
