The provincial government has launched a new summer programming lineup for Wascana Centre, giving local families an easy and affordable way to enjoy the iconic park beginning in June and July.
The “Summer Shines in Wascana Centre” initiative was announced on June 1, 2026 by the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport. It brings back popular activities and adds new ones, with many events free or low cost.
Residents can look forward to $5 boat tours on Wascana Lake, with dates announced on social media throughout July and August. Picnic on the Island runs Sundays in July and August, offering a relaxed outdoor meal setting. Free tours of the Queen Elizabeth II Gardens take place Saturdays in June and July, led by the centre’s horticulture team. For kids ages 4 to 12, Wascana Wonders interpretive programming runs through July and August.
The program also marks the return of Oskana Days on July 11 and August 8, 2026. This second-year celebration of Indigenous cultures is a collaboration with Nature Saskatchewan and the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. Activities include hide tanning demonstrations, traditional Indigenous games, and a discovery table.
According to the official announcement, the program focuses on removing barriers. There are no long-term commitments needed, and a new online booking tool makes it easier to reserve spots. Details and updates will be shared on Wascana Centre’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
