X-Ray Records, a cornerstone of the independent music scene in Regina, Saskatchewan, will permanently close its physical storefront on March 31, 2026. The shop has served as a cultural hub in the city for nearly 40 years before the closure of its brick-and-mortar location.
The store was first opened in 1987 by Dave Kuzenko, who operated it—initially as a franchise of Records on Wheels—until his death on May 25, 2023. While his daughter, Ivy Kuzenko, helped manage a transitionary period following his passing, the store was officially reopened in November 2023 by long-time employee Noah Biegler, who sought to maintain the shop’s legacy until the final storefront closure.
In the weeks leading up to the 2026 closing date, the store is holding a liquidation sale to clear its remaining stock, offering a 40 percent discount on everything.
Members of the Regina music community have shared extensive memories of the shop online. Many residents consider the store a landmark in the city’s cultural history and continue to mourn the loss of the physical institution, which was deeply synonymous with Kuzenko’s leadership.
