The Regina Pats have evened their first-round Western Hockey League playoff series against the Medicine Hat Tigers, securing a 4-2 victory in Game 2 on March 28, 2026, at Co-op Place in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
The win brings the best-of-seven series to a tie at one game each. The Regina Pats entered the matchup following a 6-2 loss to the Tigers in Game 1 on March 27, 2026. In that opening game, Tigers defenseman Jonas Woo recorded a natural hat trick during the second period to help secure the win for the defending WHL champions.
During the Game 2 victory, Pats goaltender Marek Schlenker was named the first star, stopping 21 of the 23 shots he faced. Captain Ephram McNutt provided the game-winning goal in the second period after a strong individual effort, while teammate Jace Egland added an empty-net goal to seal the win. The team played the contest without leading goal-scorer Keets Fawcett, who is sidelined with a lower-body injury, and also saw forward Connor Bear leave the game after a collision into the boards.
This playoff series marks the first time the Pats have appeared in the post-season since the 2022-23 campaign. The matchup against the Tigers, who swept the regular-season series against Regina 4-0, represents the seventh all-time playoff meeting between the two clubs and their first since 2007.
Pats head coach Brad Herauf, who emphasized an aggressive style of play to counter the Tigers’ offense, noted that the team must remain focused as the series continues. The playoff action now shifts to the Brandt Centre in Regina for Game 3 on March 31, 2026, and Game 4 on April 1, 2026.
