Several local businesses and the Renfrew Public Library in Renfrew, Ontario, were recognized on February 2, 2026, for their positive impact on the community. The Town of Renfrew announced the winners of the 2026 Canada’s Choice Awards on February 2, 2026.
The Renfrew Public Library was a notable winner in the Community Impact category for its role as a hub for local residents. The recognition follows a contentious 2025 that drew “standing room only” council meetings in December 2025 as residents mobilized in response to proposed funding changes to the library’s budget.
The awards recognize organizations that provide educational, creative and engaging programs and serve as central meeting places for their communities. The Renfrew & Area Chamber of Commerce typically facilitates nominations and works with the Downtown BIA to promote local organizations and encourage community support for award-winning services.
The announcement comes as the Town continues a leadership transition following the departure of Chief Administrative Officer Gloria Raybone on November 27, 2025. Town officials said the awards provide a point of pride for residents and help raise the profile of the town’s businesses and attractions.
