Families in Renfrew, Ontario, can look forward to a full weekend of free and low-cost activities as the town hosts its annual Frewfest Family Day Winter Carnival on Sunday, February 16 and Monday, February 17, 2026. The two-day celebration is designed to give residents affordable ways to spend the Family Day weekend together.

The event will be held at the myFM Centre and Ma-te-Way Park. Visitors can take part in horse-drawn wagon rides, play on large inflatable structures, and watch a “Meet the Keepers” animal show, all listed on the Town of Renfrew’s event page. Organizers have planned a mix of indoor and outdoor activities so the fun can continue regardless of the weather.

On Sunday, the Renfrew Wolves hockey club will host a home game at the myFM Centre as a central part of the weekend’s schedule. The Renfrew District South Women’s Institute will also be serving a pancake breakfast, which serves as a fundraiser for their work in the community.

This year’s carnival is one of the first major community events to be held in the fully operational, recently expanded myFM Centre following its $37-million expansion. The Town of Renfrew is running the event with sponsorship from Gourley’s Outdoors to help draw visitors and support local businesses.

Organizers say they will make use of the myFM Centre’s indoor spaces (the facility is roughly 96,000 square feet) to provide options for parents and children. While there have been recent changes in the recreation department’s leadership — including the departure of Director of Community & Recreation Services Kelly Latendresse effective January 19, 2026 — town programming staff say plans are coming together and the event schedule is being finalized to ensure a busy Family Day weekend for the community.
