The Rimbey Municipal Library in Rimbey, Alberta, has formalized a Home Bound Delivery program to bring library materials directly to residents who cannot visit the branch because of illness, disability or mobility challenges. Deliveries are typically scheduled on a weekly or biweekly basis so patrons can continue to access materials without leaving home.

To qualify, individuals must live within the Town of Rimbey or nearby rural areas and face temporary or long-term mobility barriers. Interested residents can sign up by calling 403-843-2841 or by visiting the library’s Services page. Library staff will work with each patron to select items based on their preferences.

Local volunteers pick up requested items and deliver them to homes and care facilities as part of the library’s Outreach & Homebound Delivery service, providing both access to materials and a friendly visit. Library officials say the service builds on the library’s commitment to reduce social isolation and ensure equal access to resources and programming for all community members.

The Home Bound Delivery program follows the library’s recent expansion project (reported in 2021) that improved program space and accessibility, and it complements the library’s existing Books by Mail service for remote users. By combining the Parkland Regional Library System’s shared catalog resources with a hands-on volunteer network, the library aims to bridge geographic and health-related barriers for patrons.

Residents can arrange deliveries or learn more by calling 403-843-2841 during library hours.
