Emergency crews were called to a single-vehicle rollover on Mobrae Avenue on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, on Saturday morning. The incident happened at 102 Mobrae Avenue around 8:06 a.m. on February 14, 2026.
According to Salt Spring Island Fire Rescue, crews arrived at the scene alongside paramedics from BC Emergency Health Services. The vehicle was found on its roof on the residential road, which connects to Vesuvius Bay Road in the northern part of the island.
The crash took place after overnight temperatures on the island dropped to near-freezing levels, reaching between 0°C and -1°C. While the exact cause is still under investigation, local authorities watch for frost or ice on the roads during the winter months.
Road safety has been a major focus for the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure recently. The provincial government has provided funding for several road improvements on the island that are expected to be finished by the middle of 2026.
