A local resident is celebrating a major win after hitting a $12,620.80 jackpot through a community radio game in Sandy Bay, Manitoba. On February 17, 2026, Sandy Bay Radio 106.3 CISB FM announced that Lillian Starr won the top prize in the Thunderbird Jackpot Accumulator.

The station officially confirmed the win after Starr hit the lucky number required to trigger the growing prize pool. Located at 245 Main Road, the station has been serving the Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation since November 2011.

The community is located about 165 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg and is led by Chief Trevor Prince along with a council that includes Jason Starr, Randal Roulette, and Michael Dumas. Money raised through gaming activities like this jackpot is often used to help pay for local needs, such as the community arena or programs for youth and elders.

According to records from the History of Canadian Broadcasting, the station first began its local service over 14 years ago. While the 50-watt broadcast is focused on the local reserve area, the station also shares its programming and games with listeners around the world through an online stream.

Sandy Bay is one of several communities represented by the Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council in the region. This latest win highlights the ongoing popularity of the station’s local games, which continue to offer large cash prizes to participants in the area.
