The Manitoba First Nations Police Service is investigating a targeted shooting at the Fisher River detachment that took place on February 10, 2026. This incident is a concern for residents in Sandy Bay, Manitoba, because the two communities share the same police resources.

Unknown individuals on an all-terrain vehicle drove up to the building and fired several shots, hitting the outside of the office and parked police cars. Two officers were working inside the building at the time, but the police reported that no staff or community members were injured.

Investigators believe the shooting was a direct attack on the police service rather than a general threat to the public. This event happened shortly after the service finished giving body-worn cameras to all its officers in January 2026 to improve safety and transparency.

Officers continue to patrol all service areas, including Sandy Bay, where police previously made an arrest in December 2025 for threats made against schools. The police service is working to keep the community safe while they search for the suspects involved in the recent shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the individuals on the all-terrain vehicle is asked to call the police tip line at 1-833-978-0048. You can also find official updates as they are released on the police website.
