Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Sandy Bay, Manitoba, is hosting a special Harvest Sunday event on January 25, 2026, to provide food and winter supplies to the community. The gathering is designed to help residents during the coldest part of the year by offering a warm meal and a place to connect.
Doors at the church will open at 10:00 a.m., and the main service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, attendees can participate in a sharing circle and a communal meal featuring food grown or stored within the community.
The event is being organized by Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with participation from the Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation. This effort aims to address local food security and provide direct support to families who may be struggling with high costs or seasonal shortages.
Organizers are using the event to showcase the success of the community greenhouse project, which helps provide fresh produce during the winter. Reverend Leo Fernandes and church staff will be on hand to distribute winter supports (food and supplies) to those in attendance.
