Indigenous community groups in Sandy Bay, Manitoba, have until tomorrow to apply for a program that brings a $10,000 business competition to local events. The Pow Wow Pitch organizers are looking for partners to host these competitions during the 2026 season to help support local business owners.
To qualify as a host, local organizers must provide basic equipment like registration tables, chairs, and audio-visual tools like microphones. Successful applicants receive the $10,000 prize pool from the Pow Wow Pitch team to award to entrepreneurs in their community.
This opportunity arrives as Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation prepares to host the All Nations Tribal Days from April 2 to 5, 2026. This spring event features a large hockey tournament and community celebrations where a business competition could be held.
The community has seen success with this program before, as local entrepreneur Blair Thompson-Roulette of Aniishnaabe Home Inspections was previously named a Pow Wow Pitch semi-finalist. Founder Sunshine Tenasco started the non-profit to provide mentorship and funding for Indigenous-led businesses across the country.
Interested groups must submit their applications by 4:00 p.m. ET on February 15, 2026. The goal of the partnership is to help business owners grow their ideas during traditional cultural gatherings and community celebrations.
