The Rotary Club of Sarnia-Bluewaterland announced on February 17, 2026, that its recent used book sale in Sarnia, Ontario, raised a record $59,000. The funds will be used to support local health initiatives and youth programs throughout the community.
The event was held at DeGroot’s Nurseries following a donation collection period that started on January 3, 2026. Organizers processed about 40,000 books, with more than 20,000 items kept out of the local waste stream through the sale and redistribution efforts.
For the first time this year, the club sent 12 boxes of books to Canadian Armed Forces members serving overseas. Other surplus books were shared with local organizations including Goodwill, Value Village, and area little libraries.
The money raised will go toward several local priorities such as cancer care at Bluewater Health and arts programs like Art in the Park. This year’s total is a significant increase over previous years, where the club typically raised between $30,000 and $40,000.
