Sarnia Transit will run a special late-night bus service on New Year’s Eve in Sarnia, Ontario, starting at 10:30 p.m. on December 31, 2025, and ending at 1:30 a.m. on January 1, 2026, to help residents celebrate safely and reduce impaired driving, according to a City of Sarnia public notice published Dec. 17, 2025.

Regular service on December 31 operates from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Buses will then switch to the Special New Year’s Eve schedule, with departures every 40 minutes from the Downtown terminal (Cromwell & Vidal), Northgate Plaza and Clearwater Terminal, looping through main residential and commercial zones.

There will be no bus service on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026. Commuters should plan their return trips accordingly or make alternative arrangements after the last 1:30 a.m. departure.

Fares remain at the standard $3.00 for adults, while children 12 and under continue to ride free under the 2025 fare policy. Exact cash fare is required when paying with cash (drivers do not provide change); passengers may also use transit passes or smartcards if loaded in advance.

Care-a-Van service for passengers with disabilities typically mirrors conventional holiday service hours but must be booked in advance. Riders are encouraged to reserve spots early due to limited seating on holiday routes and to confirm pickup times with Sarnia Transit.
