A fourth youth has been charged with assault following a fight on the St. Mary’s River Drive boardwalk in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, earlier this month.
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were called around 8:30 p.m. on July 4, 2026, after a disturbance involving several young people. The investigation has since led to charges against four youth. Police say the first three accused were known to the youth victim.
On July 4 and 5, police charged a 17-year-old and two 16-year-olds. Each faces two counts of assault for allegedly punching a youth victim and an adult who tried to step in. No physical injuries were reported from that part of the incident.
On July 7, a 15-year-old was also arrested and charged with assault. Investigators say the teen punched another youth in the face, causing minor injuries. A warrant had been obtained for the arrest before the suspect was taken into custody.
The first three accused have been released on undertakings and are set to appear in court on September 29, 2026. The 15-year-old is scheduled for a court date on August 25, 2026. None of the youth can be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
