St. Mary’s College in Sault Ste. Marie has released its 2026-2027 Course Calendar, providing students and families with updated information on graduation requirements and new academic opportunities for the upcoming school year.
The updated guide outlines several changes to the school’s programming, including the continued use of de-streamed courses for Grade 9 students. These courses are designed to blend the former academic and applied pathways into a single learning experience. The school also highlights that all students working toward an Ontario Secondary School Diploma must complete at least two online learning credits, unless they have submitted an opt-out form or received an exemption.
For students planning their academic journey, the St. Mary’s College course offerings now include five specialized programs known as Specialist High Skills Majors. These programs focus on business, construction, health and wellness, hospitality and tourism, and the non-profit sector. Additionally, the school maintains its partnership with Sault College to offer dual credit opportunities, allowing students to earn credits that count toward both their high school diploma and post-secondary requirements. Students also have access to the Outdoor Education SCOPE program, which takes place at the St. Kateri Outdoor Learning Centre.
The college continues to offer a program for students interested in advanced studies, with pre-Advanced Placement courses starting in Grade 9 and leading to Advanced Placement exams by Grade 12. As a school within the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board, all students are required to complete four Religious Education courses to graduate. These academic updates come as the school experiences growth, with secondary enrollment up 7 per cent compared to the previous year.
Families are encouraged to review the full 2026-2027 Course Calendar to understand the full range of available pathways and requirements for the coming term.
