The City of Selkirk, Manitoba, is launching a new series of free outdoor activities called Frost Force to help neighbours stay active during the winter months of 2026. This community program aims to get families outside by offering structured events in local parks at no cost to participants.
In February 2026, the city will host a Snow Sculpture Workshop at Water Tower Park (370 Jemima St). This event takes place during the same month the city welcomes visitors for the 2026 Bunge Championship provincial men’s curling tournament (early February 2026), providing extra activities for residents and visitors alike.
The program moves to Selkirk Park in March 2026 for a guided snowshoe hike along the local trail network. According to Red River North Tourism, Selkirk Park has five trails and four rest/picnic stops that are ideal for hikers, birdwatchers and snowshoers to explore during the winter season.
While these activities are free, residents must register in advance to secure a spot and to borrow equipment such as snowshoes
