The Gaynor Family Regional Library in Selkirk, Manitoba, has extended the Gaynor family’s up-to-$300,000 matching gift into 2026, giving residents more time to raise the remaining $21,309 needed to unlock the full match, campaign materials on the library’s website say.
The library’s homepage now carries a “Gift for 2026” banner and reports that, as of Dec. 1, the community had contributed $278,691 toward the $300,000 goal.
The campaign materials list the deadline as Dec. 31 (the website context indicates the extension covers 2026) and say gifts and pledges of any size will be matched up to $300,000. If the remaining $21,309 is raised, it will unlock the full $300,000 match from the Gaynor family, bringing total new capital to $600,000. The site invites donations online and notes gifts through the Selkirk & District Community Foundation.
An official banner on the library website reads, “Jim & Betty Anne Gaynor are so moved by the community’s generosity and caring that they’ve extended the deadline for matching donations – what a wonderful extra gift to the community!”
The library’s campaign describes the planned expansion as intended to add more community programming space, including expanded children’s programming areas and additional public internet access. A construction start date has not been confirmed.
The Gaynor Family Regional Library serves roughly 35,000 people across Selkirk and the surrounding Rural Municipalities of St. Andrews and St. Clements, according to campaign materials and background research.
