The St. Andrews Community Club (STACC) will hold a community celebration and fundraiser on February 7, 2026, to help girls in the RM of St. Andrews and the City of Selkirk stay involved in local sports. The fundraiser supports the newly created STACC Girls in Sport Fund, which provides bursaries to cover registration fees, specialized equipment, and leadership development — including support for coaching certificates and officiating clinics — for female athletes across the Interlake region.

Organizers are using the event to grow the program of direct financial awards (bursaries) that help families manage the high costs of playing organized sports. According to the RM of St. Andrews, proceeds will also support training for women to become local coaches and referees.

The evening will include a silent auction and remarks from Aliyah Teixeira, a St. Andrews resident and former captain of the MFHL U18 AAA Winnipeg Ice who has served as an ambassador for the fund. Partners such as St. Andrews/Selkirk Mariners Baseball are supporting the effort to expand year‑round opportunities for girls.

The fund was launched after community leaders noted a drop‑off in female sport participation in the mid‑teen years. By raising these funds, the community aims to remove financial and leadership barriers and keep more young athletes active and engaged.
