Premier Wab Kinew and the Minister of Municipal and Northern Relations, Glen Simard, visited Selkirk, Manitoba, on March 10, 2026, to discuss provincial funding for local infrastructure and health services. During the visit, the provincial government announced a $600,000 investment to expand the Gaynor Family Regional Library. This funding, provided through the Manitoba Growth, Renewal and Opportunities for Municipalities (Manitoba GRO) program, will allow the library to grow and better serve residents in Selkirk and the surrounding region.
The City of Selkirk worked with provincial officials to identify needs for utility upgrades and improvements to regional health services. These projects are intended to fix aging systems and ensure that basic services keep up with local demand.
This latest investment is part of a broader effort by the provincial government to provide direct support to municipalities for managing essential services.
