Selkirk, Manitoba residents are invited to share their thoughts on local services for older adults at a public meeting at the Selkirk Recreation Complex on March 3, 2026. The meeting is open to everyone, including seniors, caregivers, and families planning for the future.

The Selkirk Age Friendly committee will lead the session to provide updates on community programs and gather feedback on local needs. The discussion will focus on making public spaces easier to navigate as part of the Manitoba Government Accessibility Plan and the Minister’s Annual Plan.

A major focus of the meeting will be how to use new federal funding for the local bus system following a 120 million dollar government investment, announced in 2025, to improve transit services in Selkirk, Brandon, and Winnipeg. The committee is looking for specific input on how to make travel more convenient for seniors throughout the city.

The meeting will take place in the banquet hall, which is located on the lower level of the Selkirk Recreation Complex. Because there is no way to move between floors inside the building using a wheelchair or walker, visitors are asked to use the exterior doors on the lower level to enter the hall.
