The Rotary Club of Selkirk is holding the final day of its annual “Gigantic Book Sale” on January 13, 2026, at the Agricultural Society Building (Ag Building) in Selkirk Park, Selkirk, Manitoba. The multi-day fundraiser raises money for local projects including theatre restoration and healthcare equipment.

Red River North Tourism’s event listing notes the sale has traditionally been a cash-only event and past editions have featured roughly 20,000 donated books. Volunteers and local businesses — including Red Bomb Fireworks, which has partnered with the club to collect donations — helped gather a wide variety of fiction, non-fiction and children’s books for the public to browse.

Proceeds from the sale help the Rotary Club support major community goals, including a five-year $87,500 pledge toward the Garry Theatre restoration (a commitment that equates to $17,500 annually and was made in exchange for stage naming rights). Local reporting has also highlighted rapid city growth and downtown revitalization, two contexts that help explain the club’s focus on cultural and civic projects.

Historically, the club’s book sales and fundraising have helped finance significant local projects: roughly $200,000 was raised to bring echocardiography services (specialized heart-imaging equipment) to the region, and a prior sale contributed about $11,000 specifically to the Gaynor Family Regional Library’s children’s wing. By shopping at the sale, community members are supporting local healthcare, literacy programs and cultural restoration projects.
