The City of Selkirk, Manitoba, is inviting residents to the Selkirk Age Friendly committee’s Annual General Meeting on February 18, 2026. The public session at the Gordon Howard Centre will focus on improving life for local seniors by discussing priorities such as transportation, housing and accessibility.

The meeting comes after a busy year of downtown improvements and transit investment; organizers say the AGM will address transportation and accessibility priorities (including transit and sidewalk improvements), but there is no public confirmation that specific project announcements — for example, a formal launch date for a senior shuttle — will be made at the Feb. 18 meeting.

Groups like Selkirk Services to Seniors often help with programs such as the “Handy Helper” and congregate meals; those organizations commonly partner with the city on Age Friendly initiatives and supports. The committee wants to hear from residents about what services are working and what needs to change to help older adults stay active and healthy.

The event is open to everyone, and the Gordon Howard Centre serves as a senior social hub (the centre offers membership and programming for adults 45+). Residents will have the chance to learn about Age Friendly priorities and to ask questions and share ideas about making Selkirk a more age-friendly community.
