Selkirk’s biggest summer party returns to the waterfront on July 1, 2026, with free live music, a kids zone, a makers market, and a fireworks finale over the Red River. The city and Access Credit Union host the annual celebration from noon to midnight, drawing crowds to the riverbank for an evening of family-friendly entertainment.
Juno Award-winning entertainer Al Simmons headlines the music lineup at 7:15 p.m. Known for his one-man variety shows blending music and comedy, the Manitoba performer will be a highlight of a stage that also features regional acts including The Broken Binders, Darren Lavallee, Hold on Surely, Mach 10 and Les Barn Boys.
From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., kids can enjoy glitter tattoos, hula hoop sessions, bubble shows, games and balloon twisting in the Kids’ Zone. Meanwhile, the Bud & Bloom Makers Market runs until 10 p.m., offering handmade goods from local artisans in its fifth year at the event.
Fireworks will light up the sky at 11 p.m., and the Selkirk Lift Bridge, commonly known as the Blue Bridge, will close to traffic from 10:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. to ensure safety during the display. Residents can leave the car at home: Selkirk Transit will offer free rides along its regular route starting at 5 p.m. and continuing until after the fireworks, with buses parked on Manitoba Avenue in front of the Garry Theatre during the show.
Now a well-established tradition, the waterfront celebration anchors the city’s efforts to draw visitors to the downtown and connect communities along the Red River corridor. The event is free for all.
