Volunteer Manitoba has opened nominations for its 2026 Annual Volunteer Awards, inviting Selkirk groups and residents across Manitoba to nominate outstanding volunteers, teams or programs. Volunteer Manitoba’s site lists the 2026 ceremony as the 42nd Annual Volunteer Awards. The awards celebrate community service across multiple categories, including Youth leadership and the Premier’s Volunteer Service Award. Nominations are due January 30, 2026, and the awards ceremony is scheduled for April 30, 2026, in Winnipeg (Club Regent Event Centre).

Submissions are accepted through Volunteer Manitoba’s online nomination portal. Nominators must complete the online nomination form (the application asks three questions about the nominee’s volunteer work) and may upload supporting materials; the guidelines note you can combine supporting materials into a single attachment. Full details and official category names are available on Volunteer Manitoba’s award categories page.

Selkirk has a record of past recipients at the provincial awards. Parker Pelletier (Selkirk) is a recent recipient of the Premier’s Volunteer Service Award (Youth category) — listed by Volunteer Manitoba and the Province among past winners in 2022. René Gauthier has also been recognized in Volunteer Manitoba/municipal coverage for his long-standing work with the Community Kitchen, school breakfast programs and local affordable housing efforts.

Local organizations that frequently engage with the Volunteer Manitoba awards process — such as the Selkirk & District Community Foundation and City of Selkirk community/recreation programs — are well-placed to support nominations. The Selkirk & District Community Foundation manages about 75 community funds and offers community supports and resources; groups are advised to begin gathering nomination materials now if they plan to nominate local “unsung heroes” for provincial recognition.
