A new recreational hockey group is recruiting women aged 30 and older to join them at the rink in Shediac, New Brunswick, offering a low‑pressure environment for residents who want to try the sport for the first time; recruitment is active as of January 2026.

The group is focusing on fun and exercise rather than competition, and players do not need any previous experience with a stick or puck to sign up. While participants should have basic skating skills (for example, being able to glide and stop safely), the program is specifically designed for beginners and late starters.

Most activity is planned to take place at the Festival Arena, the town’s main ice facility. This recruitment drive comes as adult sports participation grows locally, with organizational support from the Shediac/Cap‑Pélé Minor Hockey Association and guidance from Hockey New Brunswick’s Adult Rec division.

While regional organizations such as the South East Female Hockey Association have traditionally focused on youth programming, this initiative is intended to give older women a chance to get active. Interested players can find more information on local community social media boards or by contacting the organizers directly—often through the Shediac/Cap‑Pélé Minor Hockey Association (SHCP MHA).
