Strathcona County Council will meet on January 27, 2026, in Sherwood Park, Alberta, to operationalize the 2026 Capital Plan and advance priorities from the newly finalized 2027–2030 Strategic Plan. The meeting is the first major session of the year and will focus on how the county will implement its capital budget for 2026.

Discussion will center on the County’s Budget 2026 announcement, which sets the 2026 capital budget at $93.6 million. Key items cited for transition from planning to execution include the multi-use indoor fieldhouse and early residential development activity in the Bremner growth area, including plans for initial show homes.

This is the first significant planning session following the 2025 municipal election. Councillors will consider how to advance these projects while managing a recently approved 4.88 per cent municipal tax revenue increase for 2026.

Residents who want to speak during the meeting must register by the county’s stated deadline (4:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026); check the published agenda for registration details. A live webcast of the proceedings will be available via Strathcona County’s Council Meetings webcast portal.

Location: Council Chambers, Strathcona County Community Centre, Sherwood Park, AB. Agenda packages and webcast links will be posted on the County’s Agendas and Webcasts page prior to the meeting.
